Appeal on behalf of First on Scene learner who saved her own life using a tourniquet during Manchester Bombing

We would like to make an appeal to you on behalf of one of our recently trained first aiders, Josie Howarth.

Josie was waiting in the foyer of the Manchester Arena on Monday 22nd May 2017 when the horrific Manchester bombing occurred.  She suffered massive injuries to her legs in the blast but managed to use her first aid knowledge to improvise a tourniquet to stop the bleeding using the strap of her handbag. The story was reported in the Mirror here: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/manchester-terror-attack-victim-saved-10493581

Josie, who is still critically ill in hospital, runs the Wonkey Donkey Sanctuary in West Yorkshire, which provides shelter to abused and abandoned donkeys.

A donation page has now been set up to help with the costs of keeping the charity running while Josie and her family recover.

To donate to this incredible cause, please use this link: www.gofundme.com/wonkeydonkey

Even if you can’t donate personally, please share this with your contacts. Let’s help this incredible family in their time of need.

Thank you,
First on Scene
